The 41-year old actor, Benedict Cumberbatch is back with his cloak of levitation to portray again Dr. Strange in the upcoming and much awaited Marvel Studios movie, Avengers: Infinity War. In 2016, Cumberbatch played the Marvel Comics character of Dr. Stephen Strange in the famous Marvel Cinematic Universe which hit the movie houses in the film Doctor Strange. He’s back on his role that plays a significant part on the approaching movie which will be on screen starting April 28.

His Colorful Life and Career

Benedict Cumberbatch, born in London in 1976, started his colorful journey as a screen actor in the films Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, War Horse, Star Trek: Into the Darkness and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Cumberbatch has shared his talent in theatre, television, film, and radio. His breakthrough on the big screen came in 2004 when he portrayed Stephen Hawking in the television movie Hawking. Another noteworthy role he did was as Sherlock Homes in BBC television show Sherlock since 2010. As mentioned, he was chosen to take the role of Dr. Stephen Strange in the film Doctor Strange in 2016.

In his love for acting, he has received numerous awards and nominations including three Laurence Olivier Award nominations and winning the Best Actor in a Play award for Frankenstein. His role as Sherlock brought him to many recognitions including four Primetime Emmy Award nominations and winning the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie. In 2006, Cumberbatch played William Pitt the Younger in Amazing Grace. The role garnered him a nomination for the London Film Critics Circle “British Breakthrough Acting Award“. He also got a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his outstanding performance in The Imitation Game. He was included in the annual Time 100 as one of the “Most Influential People in the World”.

Dr. Strange in Avengers: Infinity War

After playing the lead role in the blockbuster hit Doctor Strange in 2016, Cumberbatch is ready to give justice to his role as Dr. Strange in Avengers: Infinity War. In an interview on Good Morning Britain aired on April 19, Cumberbatch proudly said, “[This film] is mind-blowingly epic. It is not underselling it to say that it is one of the grandest, most exciting movie events of the last decade.” Dr. Strange plays an important role in the film which allowed him to read the whole Avengers: Infinity War Script while other actors were given fake ending and fake storyline. To prevent the spill off of the film’s plot, high secrecy was given to the true plot.

If we recall the 2016 Doctor Strange, we can find one of the six infinity stones which is the Eye of Agamotto also known as time stone. Time stone being one of the six immensely powerful infinity stone made possible the creation of Time Loop. With the time loop, Dr. Strange went to the Dark Dimension and being repeatedly killed by Dormammu. Dormammu cannot break the cycle and to be able to escape he gave in to Dr. Strange’s demand to leave Earth. He was given time to master his powers and experiment in the Dark Dimension.
